General questions

What is Free Walk Oaxaca?

Free Walk Oaxaca is a local tour brand offering walking and cultural experiences in Oaxaca.

Our experiences include the Free Walking Tour, Oaxaca Local Food Tour, Mezcal & Alebrijes Tour and Private City Tour.

We’ve been walking Oaxaca with travelers since 2014.

Our experiences are led by local guides who share historical, cultural and practical context about Oaxaca.

The goal is not only to show you landmarks, but to help you better understand the city, its traditions, food and everyday life.

Language depends on the experience.

Free Walking Tour: English and Spanish according to the published schedule.

Private City Tour: English.

Mezcal & Alebrijes Tour: English, with Spanish translation available when needed.

For the Oaxaca Local Food Tour, please confirm the available language when booking.

The current operational source does not specify a language for the Food Tour, so I would not publish one until it is confirmed internally.

Yes.

Our tours operate rain or shine.

We recommend checking the weather before your experience and bringing appropriate clothing, comfortable walking shoes and sun or rain protection.

Please arrive approximately 5–10 minutes before your scheduled starting time.

This is especially important for experiences that depend on coordinated visits or transportation schedules.

FREE WALKING TOUR

How does the Free Walking Tour work?

The Free Walking Tour operates on a tip-based model.

There is no fixed ticket price for the tour.

You join the experience, explore Oaxaca with a local guide and, at the end, decide how much you would like to tip based on your experience and budget.

There is no mandatory fixed tour price.

The experience works on tips, which means guests decide what they would like to give their guide at the end of the tour.
